Beneath the Canopy of Moon and Stars
Beneath the canopy of moon and stars
Two tiny people sit, for now together. Love binds them, they would
like to hope, forever;
But there is much that such a union bars.
Heaven is so vast; the Earth so small,
Yet large enough to stretch a great love thin.
For love to flourish, it must turn within:
To the single soul that unifies us all.
Within this soul the walls of fear dissolve:
Distance, difference, history are no more.
The holy silence stills the sounds of war.
We love as round us miracles revolve.
We know we cannot live within this shell
Of heaven both above us and below.
Day by every day the world we know
Will guarantee we recognize it well.
Yet there are truths far greater than the sun,
Beyond the blanket blue of every day.
In love's dark longings, we will find a way
To make our human separateness one.

Do Not Doubt How Much I Love You
Do not doubt how much I love you
Though my time with you is thin.
I am always thinking of you,
Always loving you within.
A full-time working mom and wife
Just doesn't have much time to give.
But I have given you my life,
And you still reign where I most live.
I do the best that I can do
And hope that you will understand
That everything belongs to you:
My eyes, my thoughts, my heart, my hand.

Every Sky's a Brand New Sky
Every sky's a brand new sky,
Uncanny once again;
And every kiss, a brand new kiss,
New one, no matter when.
And every love, a brand new love,
New cherished every day;
Though lips and heart may slowly age,
The awe-struck boy will stay.
And I will vow again to love
You each day of my life,
As though each morning were the first
We rose as man and wife.
Just as a meadow washed by rain
Is relit by the dawn,
Just so our love, as we grow old,
Will each day be reborn.

For me this year has been a special mountain,
Incandescent on its sunlit peak.
Revisiting its rich, eventful days,
So full of love, is one more gift from you.
There is no darkness on our lovely mountain
As I gaze upon my life from this first peak.
Nothing I imagined matches these days
Needing, wanting, loving, having you.
In earlier years I thought of this first mountain,
Visioning the vista from its peak.
Each thought was there, even in those days:
Ripples in the darkness without you.
So shall I love you on this yearly mountain
As I cast a quick glance backward from its peak,
Recalling the long innocence of days
Yearning for what I now have in you.

How Can I Say What is Too Much for Words?
How can I say what is too much for words?
A rainbow cannot fit into my heart.
Perhaps we should be musical as birds
Perched singing of our love with practiced art.
You cannot taste my happiness, or feel
A little of the chill of your caress.
No word or metaphor can make it real,
Nor song contain the truth I would express.
In my love there are mountains miles high,
Valleys rainbow carpeted, and wide
Enough for clear, still lakes to steal the sky ...
R-R-R-R!!! I cannot tell you what's inside!
So you must turn to what you feel for me,
And read therein my tender rhapsody.
Reach deep, my love, and I will be there, too:
You have me in your heart, as I have you.
