Good Women
Good
women are indeed all around us. You pass them on the streets,
in the malls and the halls at work.
Most
you can't see because you don't know what a good woman really
looks like.
She
may not be flashy enough or rich enough to turn your head.
She
might not wear a tight skirt or push a Lex.
She
might not have a "body like Janet with a Halle Berry face."
But,
as YOU mature, you'll realize it's better to find someone who's
got your back than someone who can turn your head.
A good woman doesn't agree wholeheartedly with everything you
say.
She
doesn't just tell you what you want to hear just because you want
to hear it.
She
doesn't declare how sensitive, sweet, caring, sincere, yada yada,
she is (she won't have to because it shows).
She
has her own opinions and you may clash, but she doesn't have to
degrade you to prove she's right.
She
even admits at times to being wrong, and only asks that you are
willing to do the same.
A
good woman is not going to meet every item on your check list.
She
is human with frailties and faults mixed in with all of her wonderful,
strong attributes.
She's
not perfect.
She
needs your love and respect.
She
needs to feel that you don't live to "catch" her doing something
wrong so you can declare, "Aha! I knew you were like all the rest!!"
She
needs to know that if she expresses her feelings to you, you will
hear her out before you analyze her.
A
good woman doesn't necessarily give you a huge birthday or Valentine's
gift.
She
shows her love in the ways that are comfortable to her. It may
be picking up your favorite movie or drink on a night when you
both can just chill. Or it might be a caring phone call, or positive
voice to soothe you when things in your world just don't seem
right.
Don't
judge her by TV standards. No one is living that fairy tale life
for real. You'll miss out on your own fairy tale by buying into
the myth that women are no good. It's just not true.
Women,
we salute you, and thank you for who you are and all you've done.
