In 1972 Phyllis Siebert became the cook at the Blaine House, the home
of Maine's governors. Throughout five administrations, she has creatively
and energetically pursued her role as chef and caregiver for Maine's official
families and their thousands of guests from Jimmy Carter and Baron Rothschild,
to Arnold Schwarzeneger and Captain Kangaroo.
Recipes and Reminiscences is a self portrait of Phyllis set against
the personalities and events of the last twenty-five years of the State's
political history.
In this engaging memoir, Phyllis shares vivid anecdotes about Blaine
House life as well as the recipes which have made her one of the most celebrated
chefs in Maine. This is a book to be treasured for its historical
and personal insights as well as for its wealth of practical advice about
great Downeast cooking. Recipes and Reminiscences is 200 pages
and is illustrated with color photographs.
ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THIS BOOK WILL GO TO
THE BLAINE HOUSE ENDOWMENT FUND FOR THE
PRESERVATION OF THE BLAINE HOUSE.
